Intelligent Throttle Control

For added flexibility, the Wisper 705 features a throttle-only mode, allowing you to engage full electric power when you need a break from pedalling or require a smooth start. Note that using throttle-only mode can reduce your maximum range by up to 35%.

Throttle Mode (Optional Upgrade) – Throttle-only mode reduces range by up to 35%. Torque Power Pack (TTP) does not increase range in throttle-only use. Pedal assist is recommended for optimal range, using throttle-only as needed, such as for pull-away or rest.

How It Works

When you order a Wisper full-throttle eBike, we’ll arrange for it to be tested by the DVSA and approved as an L1e category 250W Low Powered Moped. To meet Type Approval requirements, bikes must have front and rear lights operated from a single switch (such as this one).

The bike needs to be inspected at an approved MVSA centre for Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) tests. These tests ensure that the eBike complies with current Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) regulations. After the test, we receive a British National Type Approval certificate, which is specific to your bike’s frame number. This certificate is valid for the bike's lifetime and doesn’t require renewal, unlike an MOT.

When not using the throttle, the bike functions like a standard eBike, with no impact on regular EAPC features.

As of November 2025, wait times are approximately 10-12 weeks from your order date due to the time it now takes to book a slot with the DVSA for type approval.

At Bike Yard Online, we can now deliver Wisper e-bikes without the throttle so you can start riding straight away instead of waiting 2–3 months for delivery. Once your bike is with you, contact us and we will arrange a DVSA slot to fit the legal throttle at a later date. When the time comes, just send the bike back and we will handle everything. Costs and Warranty

We offer a complete certification service for £299 with new bikes purchased from us. This includes the test fee, software upgrade, transportation to the test centre, and a £45 fee to extend the warranty to cover throttle use.

If you're taking your Wisper bike abroad, it’s your responsibility to check the local legal requirements. Wisper can re-restrict your bike for a £55 fee at their HQ in Kent and de-restrict it when you return.

Wisper e-bikes are typically delivered in 2-6 working days from your order date.

All Wisper e-bikes come with a comprehensive two year warranty on electrical and bike parts with five years on frames.

Klarna

Klarna’s "Pay Later" lets you receive your order upfront and pay within a set period (usually between 2 weeks and 2 months) with no interest or fees. In their app, you can pay early or extend the due date if needed.

Klarna also offers "Pay in 3" which splits the total into three equal interest-free instalments.
