General Information

Your e-bike is protected by the manufacturer's own warranty, included with every purchase.

We stand by the quality of every e-bike we sell, but in the rare event that something goes wrong, your purchase is protected. Each bike includes a manufacturer's warranty, although the duration and terms will differ by brand. For precise coverage details, please consult the manufacturer's website directly.

Once your e-bike arrives, you will find instructions in the manual on how to activate your warranty. Most manufacturers require you to register your bike within two weeks of delivery to ensure full coverage.

What the Warranty Covers

In most cases, your warranty includes major mechanical and electrical components. Cover is only valid when the bike is properly cared for and used as intended in everyday conditions.

Frame & Front Forks

The structural foundation of your e-bike is covered against manufacturing defects — including the main frame and front fork assembly.

Motor & Controller

The electric motor and controller — the heart of your e-bike's power system — are fully covered against manufacturing faults.

Battery & Charger

Your battery and its charger are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. Follow brand-specific instructions regarding battery use, storage, and charging — mismanagement may void the battery warranty.

What Is Not Covered

Some parts are considered wear-and-tear or consumable items and will not be covered under warranty.

Consumable Parts

Tyres & inner tubes
Chains & cassettes
Brake pads, discs & cables
Bearings, spokes & grips

Normal cosmetic damage such as scuffs, rust, small cracks in paintwork, water ingress, and general degradation through use is also excluded.

The warranty will not cover:

  • Accidental damage

Accidents, poor handling, theft, or aggressive riding (e.g. jumps or racing)

  • Neglect & misuse

Failures caused by neglect, overloading, incorrect setup, or using unauthorised parts

  • Sealed component tampering

Any tampering with sealed components such as the battery or speed limiter

  • Modifications

Modifications beyond the guidance of the manual

Warranty Terms & Conditions

Important conditions that apply to your manufacturer's warranty.

Repairs

All repair work must be carried out by technicians approved by us. Self-repair or using third-party parts not authorised by Bike Yard Online or the brand will void your warranty.

Parts & Postage

Replacement components and postage are covered under warranty terms.

Frame Damage

In the event of frame damage, the full bike (cleaned) or just the frame may need to be sent to Bike Yard Online for inspection. Labour, collection, or return costs may apply.

Seatpost

Seat posts must not be extended beyond their maximum height indicator. If no marking is present, contact us before adjusting.

Speed Limiter

Any alterations to electrical limits, especially changes to the 25 km/h (15.5 mph) speed restriction, will invalidate your battery and motor warranty.

Battery Care

It is essential to follow brand-specific instructions regarding battery use, storage, and charging. Mismanagement may void the battery warranty.

Routine Maintenance

E-bikes benefit from routine maintenance to stay in good working order. We recommend:

Initial Check-Up

Within 30 days of delivery or 100 miles of use

Daily Riders

Full service every 6 months

Occasional Use

At least 1 service per year

Also refer to your chosen bike's user guide, which may contain extra information regarding your model. Where possible, choose a mechanic experienced in e-bikes. If you are unsure where to go, get in touch and we will help you find someone suitable.

Keep the bike clean and moving parts well-lubricated. For bikes used on roads, this is usually simple, but if you take yours off-road, remove mud and grit promptly and lightly oil any exposed mechanisms. Avoid applying oil to the brakes. Accumulated debris can lead to damage and, in some cases, may impact your warranty status.

Nothing in the above affects your statutory rights.
