Ampere E-Bike Throttle - Fitted

Sale price £49.00

Not EAPC compliant

Private land use only when fitted

A throttle lets the motor drive the bike without you pedalling. Under UK law, an e-bike that can do this above 3.7mph (6km/h) no longer meets the Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) rules.

  • Throttle fitted: the bike is not EAPC compliant and is classed as a motor vehicle, so it must only be ridden on private land with the landowner's permission.
  • Throttle removed: the underlying Ampere e-bike is fully EAPC compliant and road legal in the UK again.

Riding with a throttle fitted on public roads would need the bike to be registered, taxed and insured, with a licence and a motorcycle helmet. Please refer to government sources for further information.

Please Note – Under current UK law, bikes fitted with the throttle add-on option are illegal to use on public land, these are only to be used on private land. We are also unable to add this to Cycle to Work orders.

When the throttle is removed, all Ampere e-bikes are fully road legal and comply with EAPC regulations.

The Ampere E-Bike Throttle allows effortless movement without pedalling, giving you instant power at your fingertips. It offers a smooth, controlled boost that makes setting off and riding far easier.

Please only purchase this with an Ampere ebike from us. We are unable to retrofit or send out throttles to an Ampere ebike that you already own.

Please Note – Under current UK law, bikes fitted with the throttle add-on option are illegal to use on public land, these are only to be used on private land. We are also unable to add this to Cycle to Work orders.

Using the throttle extensively will reduce your e-bike’s range, so for maximum distance, it’s best to use it only when needed.
