VAT-free electric trikes for disabled and chronically sick riders
If you are disabled or have a long-term health condition, UK VAT law allows certain mobility equipment to be supplied at a zero rate of VAT. The electric trikes in this collection can be sold VAT-free to eligible customers, which removes the 20% VAT from the price. On a trike costing £1,800 including VAT, that is a saving of £300. You do not need to be registered disabled or receiving benefits, and there is no application to HMRC - you simply complete a short eligibility declaration and we apply the relief when you order.
Which electric trikes qualify for VAT relief?
Currently the Revom T4 Semi Recumbent Electric Tricycle and the Revom T5 Front Passenger Seat Electric Tricycle are eligible. Both are three-wheel electric bikes with a low step-through frame, a supportive seat with backrest and a 250W motor that keeps them road-legal in the UK as pedal-assist e-bikes. The T4 has a semi-recumbent riding position and a rear cargo rack, while the T5 adds a front passenger seat with armrests, making it ideal for carrying a child, a companion or a small dog. If you are interested in another model from our full range of electric trikes for adults, please ask and we will confirm whether it can be supplied VAT-free.
How to buy an electric trike VAT-free
Getting VAT relief is straightforward. Download the eligibility declaration form, complete page two and email it to hello@bikeyardonline.co.uk. Once we have checked it, we send you a private link to buy your chosen trike at the VAT-free price. The relief has to be applied at the point of sale, so please get in touch before you order rather than paying full price and claiming afterwards. Our step-by-step guide to getting VAT relief on electric trikes explains who qualifies, what HMRC means by chronically sick or disabled, and answers the most common questions.
Why choose an electric trike for mobility?
A 3 wheel electric bike offers stability that a two-wheeler cannot, so riders who struggle with balance, hip or knee problems, or reduced strength can keep cycling with confidence. Pedal assistance takes the effort out of hills and longer trips, the step-through frame means no swinging a leg over a crossbar, and the seat with backrest supports your lower back on every ride. For many customers an e-trike replaces short car journeys, supports rehabilitation and simply makes it possible to get outdoors and stay independent. Every trike we sell comes with a manufacturer warranty and support from our team before and after delivery. Questions about eligibility, sizing or which model suits you?
